Stock Photography and a trip to Birmingham

In the last 12 months I've shot a total of 20 different types of photograph. Weddings, charity balls, commercial, studio work, schools, nurseries, the list goes on. Another area in which I'm involved is "Stock Libraries." When a magazine editor (for example) needs a photograph to illustrate an article, he may not have the time or money to commission a photographer to go and take the shot. So he goes to a Stock Library, a library full of photographs rather than books. These libraries rely on photographers such as myself to keep their photographs up to date and to continually increase the range and content.
So at least once a week I set aside time to take photographs to submit to stock libraries (there are hundreds of them.) Anybody looking to buy photographs can join these libraries, and when they buy a shot, I get a percentage of the sale, the remainder going to the library.

Yesterday it was Birmingham City Centre, as I haven't shot their in a while, and you'd be amazed at how quickly things change...

The Anchor Pony Show

The Anchor Pony Show (this year at Nantyrhunna Hill, Anchor) has become an annual event for me. Astonishingly, this year's show was the 47th, and good weather saw a very healthy turnout for the equine and dog shows.

Amongst the showing, showjumping and hunter trials there was an excellent Fancy Dress Competition, won by these 2 chaps in their fish costumes. Postman Pat came a very close second.

Many thanks to Terri Jones and all of the committee members for their help on the day, and I look forward to meeting them all again in 2010. Ten percent of my takings from yesterday will be donated to this year's charity, The County Air Ambulance.
If you have, or know of any similar events that might benefit from a photographer, please let me know. There's no charge for attendance, I print and sell photographs on site and donate 10% of the takings to your organisation or charity of your choice. Call me on 01952 683681 if interested.

A Wedding

To Shrewsbury for the Wedding of Amy and Neil. A day full of joy, a crisis when the zip on the bride's dress broke, and an emotion filled room for the speeches. Thanks to them both for allowing me to be part of their celebration, and to all their guests who made me feel so welcome.

Very best wishes to both of you.

The Portable Studio

I'm often asked if I can visit people's homes or villages to take photographs. This can be useful where very young children are involved - a visit to a studio with 3 toddlers can be a trial for both parents and children. So, equipped with everything you could possibly need for a successful photograph I travel the county setting up, taking photographs and clearing up behind me. This week I visited a village hall to take some family shots. Village halls are an ideal location for this - they are hardly ever fully booked, cheap to rent and with more than enough space to set up a full sized backdrop and lighting rig.

First Telford Studio Shots

This week saw my first customers at my Telford studio. Photographing children can sometimes be difficult for a variety of reasons, but the reward of shots like these always makes it worthwhile. I've known this family for a while now, and the more these two have their photos taken, the better they get at it...
